Job Description

Our client in North West is seeking a Workshop Foreman to strengthen their team in Brits.

The position operates within a vehicle-assembly environment governed by strict quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Repair or replace faulty suspension and steering components such as shock absorbers, control arms, tie rod ends, and wheel bearings.
  • Conduct comprehensive engine overhauls involving disassembly, inspection, repair or replacement of worn components, and reassembly of engines.
  • Perform scheduled vehicle servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug changes, and fluid level checks according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform panel beating and body repair work including dent removal, frame straightening, panel replacement, welding, and surface preparation for painting.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored correctly and work bays are free of hazards.
  • Carry out brake system repairs including machining or replacing brake discs and pads, repairing calipers, and bleeding brake lines to restore safe operation.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and software to identify faults in modern vehicle electronic and engine management systems.
  • A valid driver's licence, preferably Code 8 or higher, with a clean driving record to enable test-driving of customer vehicles.
  • A recognised trade certificate as a motor mechanic, diesel mechanic, auto electrician, panel beater, or spray painter issued by a relevant SETA.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship that meets industry safety standards.
  • The ability to read and interpret workshop manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical bulletins to guide repair procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, air conditioning, and electrical systems.
  • Good communication skills to explain technical information to customers and service advisors in a clear and understandable manner.
