Auto Electrician

The Auto Electrician will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using diagnostic scanning, test-drive vehicles after repairs to verify that issues have been properly resolved and perform panel beating and body repair work.

The role is based on-site in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. The business promotes from within wherever possible, opening doors over time. Shift work and overtime may be required to meet production schedules.

• Perform scheduled vehicle servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug changes, and fluid level checks according to manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using diagnostic scanning tools, multimeters, and manual inspection techniques.
• Perform panel beating and body repair work including dent removal, frame straightening, panel replacement, welding, and surface preparation for painting.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored correctly and work bays are free of hazards.
• Prepare vehicle surfaces for spray painting by sanding, masking, applying primer and filler, and ensuring a flawless finish matching factory standards.
• Carry out brake system repairs including machining or replacing brake discs and pads, repairing calipers, and bleeding brake lines to restore safe operation.
• Complete job cards accurately and timeously, documenting all work carried out, parts used, and time spent on each repair for customer invoicing.

• A minimum of three to five years of post-trade test experience working in a workshop or dealership environment.
• A valid driver's licence, preferably Code 8 or higher, with a clean driving record to enable test-driving of customer vehicles.
• A comprehensive set of personal tools appropriate to the trade, and ability to use workshop equipment such as hydraulic lifts and wheel alignment machines.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, air conditioning, and electrical systems.
• The ability to read and interpret workshop manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical bulletins to guide repair procedures.
