Job Description

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will carry out brake system repairs, repair or replace faulty suspension and steering components and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using diagnostic scanning.

Responsibilities
  • Complete job cards accurately and timeously, documenting all work carried out, parts used, and time spent on each repair for customer invoicing.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored correctly and work bays are free of hazards.
  • Repair or replace faulty suspension and steering components such as shock absorbers, control arms, tie rod ends, and wheel bearings.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using diagnostic scanning tools, multimeters, and manual inspection techniques.
  • Conduct comprehensive engine overhauls involving disassembly, inspection, repair or replacement of worn components, and reassembly of engines.
Requirements
  • The ability to read and interpret workshop manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical bulletins to guide repair procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship that meets industry safety standards.
  • Good communication skills to explain technical information to customers and service advisors in a clear and understandable manner.
  • A minimum of three to five years of post-trade test experience working in a workshop or dealership environment.
  • A comprehensive set of personal tools appropriate to the trade, and ability to use workshop equipment such as hydraulic lifts and wheel alignment machines.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, air conditioning, and electrical systems.
  • A recognised trade certificate as a motor mechanic, diesel mechanic, auto electrician, panel beater, or spray painter issued by a relevant SETA.
