Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with schools, healthcare facilities, law enforcement, and other agencies to coordinate holistic client support.
  • Develop and implement individualised intervention and care plans in collaboration with clients, families, and other professionals.
  • Prepare professional reports and recommendations for courts, parole boards, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Conduct community outreach and awareness programmes on social issues such as substance abuse, domestic violence, and HIV.
  • Provide therapeutic counselling and emotional support to individuals, families, and groups facing life challenges.
  • Investigate reports of child abuse, neglect, and family violence, assessing risk and making appropriate referrals for protection.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case files and records in accordance with professional standards and data protection legislation.
Requirements
  • A clear criminal record is mandatory given the nature of work with children and vulnerable persons.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation including the Children's Act, Older Persons Act, and Domestic Violence Act.
  • A minimum of two to three years of experience in social work practice in the relevant field of service.
  • Excellent assessment and report writing skills to produce professional documentation for courts and other authorities.
  • A valid driver's licence is often required for home visits and community outreach work.
  • Strong interpersonal and counselling skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to manage the stress associated with working with traumatised and vulnerable individuals.
