A well-established company is looking for an experienced Bricklayer to join the team in Klerksdorp. This role rewards initiative and a genuine pride in a job done well.

Collaboration, fairness, and pride in the work define the day-to-day culture. Skills development and on-the-job learning are a genuine part of the role. It is a busy, practical environment where no two days look quite the same. Do not wait — submit your details and take the next step.

Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Planning

  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports to the project manager and client, documenting achievements, resource utilisation, weather delays, and any emerging issues impacting schedule or budget performance.
  • Manage procurement scheduling and material take-offs from approved drawings and bills of quantities, raising requisitions timeously to ensure materials are available when needed without disrupting the construction programme or causing idle labour.
  • Liaise with architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, and MEP consultants to resolve design queries, request technical clarifications, process variation orders, and coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces seamlessly on site.
  • Develop and maintain detailed construction programmes using project management software such as Microsoft Project, identifying critical path activities, resource requirements, and key milestones to guide weekly work planning and resource allocation.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Investigate all incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts thoroughly by conducting root cause analysis, implementing preventative measures, and preparing detailed investigation reports for the construction manager, client representative, and regulatory authorities.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments across all work areas including excavations, scaffolding, working at height, and confined spaces, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions within the agreed timeframes to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure all plant, machinery, and equipment on site is inspected daily by competent operators, that inspection checklists are completed diligently, and that any defective equipment is immediately tagged out of service and removed from the work area.
Requirements
  • A valid driver's licence and own reliable transport to travel between the office and construction sites as required.
  • A minimum of five years of construction industry experience with at least two years in a supervisory or management role.
  • For artisan roles, a recognised trade certificate in bricklaying, carpentry, or plumbing issued by a relevant training authority.
  • A degree or national diploma in civil engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, or a related built environment discipline.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders including clients and consultants.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations, with SACPCMP registration where required.
