Stores Controller

Hands-on from day one, the Stores Controller will assist customers with product selection by providing knowledgeable advice, handle customer returns and exchanges professionally and receive, unpack, and price incoming stock deliveries, checking quantities against for a consumer goods company in Hermanus, Western Cape.

The role includes weekend, public-holiday, and month-end trading periods typical of retail.

• Assist customers with product selection by providing knowledgeable advice and recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the store including the sales floor, fitting rooms, stockroom, and staff areas.
• Conduct regular stock counts and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and identify shrinkage issues promptly.
• Handle customer returns and exchanges professionally, adhering to company policies while maintaining customer satisfaction.
• Receive, unpack, and price incoming stock deliveries, checking quantities against delivery notes and reporting discrepancies.

• Strong numerical skills and attention to detail, particularly for cashier and stock control positions.
• For management roles, proven experience in leading a retail team and driving sales to achieve targets.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage positively with customers and team members.
• A professional and well-presented appearance reflecting the brand image of the retail establishment.
• Flexibility to work retail hours including weekends, public holidays, and late trading evenings.
• A genuine passion for customer service with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
• A Grade 12 certificate is the minimum requirement; a retail or business-related qualification is advantageous.
