Job Description

To ensure all engineering work complies with relevant standards and develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programmes, a factory operation in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a Maintenance Engineer.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control project budgets, schedules, and resources, identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures.
  • Conduct technical analyses including stress analysis, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and structural integrity using industry-standard software.
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programmes for industrial plant and equipment to maximise reliability.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated.
  • Develop detailed engineering designs, calculations, simulations, and technical specifications for civil, mechanical, electrical, or process systems.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, bills of quantities, technical reports, and contract documentation to high accuracy.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify construction or installation work complies with designs and quality specifications.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards, codes of practice, and regulatory requirements applicable in South Africa.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating across engineering disciplines for integrated project outcomes.
  • Professional registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng, or candidate registration actively working towards professional registration.
  • Strong project management skills including scheduling, cost estimation, and contract administration.
  • Proficiency in engineering design and analysis software relevant to the discipline such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to apply engineering first principles to complex technical challenges.
