Job Description

Hands-on from day one, the Machine Operator will move raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods between workstations, operate production machinery and set up workstations with required materials for a manufacturing company in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workstation by cleaning machinery, disposing of waste, and returning tools to storage after each shift.
  • Record production data including output quantities, downtime, and quality check results on daily production sheets.
  • Assemble products or components on the production line following work instructions, achieving daily output targets while maintaining quality standards.
  • Operate production machinery and equipment according to standard operating procedures, ensuring safe and efficient operation at all times.
  • Move raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods between workstations and storage areas using trolleys or pallet jacks.
  • Package finished products by labelling, boxing, and palletising according to customer specifications and dispatch requirements.
  • Set up workstations with required materials, tools, and components at the start of each shift to ensure uninterrupted production.
Requirements
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential for maintaining production schedules and team efficiency.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and adhere to standard operating procedures without deviation.
  • Willingness to work shifts including night shift, weekends, and public holidays as required by production schedules.
  • Previous experience in a factory, manufacturing, or production environment is advantageous.
  • Good attention to detail to identify product defects and quality issues during in-process checks.
