Risk Officer

The purpose of this Risk Officer role is to assist with emergency procedures and write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events.

The role is based on-site in Bloemfontein, Free State. The setup is well-organised, with clear expectations and steady support. Longer term, there is a clear path for those who show commitment. The team looks after its own and expects the same in return. Qualified candidates are encouraged to get their applications in early.

Normal working hours apply, with occasional flexibility required during busy periods.

• Conduct regular patrols of the assigned premises on foot or by vehicle, checking for security breaches, hazards, and suspicious activity.
• Respond promptly to alarm activations, investigate the cause, and take appropriate action including escalation to armed response or law enforcement.
• Write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events, observations, and actions taken for management review.
• Conduct searches of personnel, vehicles, and bags entering or leaving the premises to prevent unauthorised removal of property.
• Supervise and coordinate a team of security officers, managing shift rosters and ensuring all posts are adequately staffed.
• Perform regular checks of security equipment including alarms, cameras, radios, and access control systems to ensure functionality.
• Assist with emergency procedures including fire evacuations, medical emergencies, and crisis situations according to established protocols.

• A minimum of one to two years of experience in the security industry with a proven track record of reliability.
• Good written and verbal communication skills to write reports and interact professionally with clients and the public.
• A valid driver's licence is required for armed response and patrol positions.
• The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure in emergency or high-stress situations.
• Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions.
