Job Description

Hands-on from day one, the Handyman will service and maintain air conditioning units, touch up paintwork and perform minor painting tasks to maintain the appearance and perform minor building repairs for an organisation in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

Responsibilities
  • Report safety hazards, equipment defects, and maintenance needs to supervisors without delay.
  • Adhere to all occupational health and safety procedures and wear prescribed personal protective equipment.
  • Perform minor building repairs including painting, patching walls, fixing leaks, and replacing broken fixtures such as door handles, hinges, and taps.
  • Diagnose and repair basic electrical faults including replacing light fittings, switches, plugs, and circuit breakers in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas, storage rooms, and external grounds.
  • Repair and replace door locks, hinges, window latches, and other building hardware to ensure security and functionality of premises.
Requirements
  • Good communication skills and a professional manner when interacting with tenants, clients, and contractors.
  • Previous experience in building maintenance, handyman work, or at least two skilled trades such as plumbing, electrical, or carpentry.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose faults and determine the most effective repair approach.
  • A valid driver's licence and own reliable transport are preferred for travelling between properties and responding to callouts.
  • Practical knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry repairs to handle day-to-day maintenance tasks independently.
