Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Provide regular and constructive feedback to learners on their performance, identifying areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assess learner progress through tests, assignments, projects, and oral presentations, maintaining accurate records of achievement.
  • Communicate regularly with parents through written reports, parent-teacher meetings, and informal updates to build strong home-school partnerships.
  • Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings, contributing to curriculum development and sharing best practices.
  • Supervise learners during break times, extramural activities, and school outings, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Plan and deliver well-structured lessons that engage learners, promote critical thinking, and align with curriculum learning outcomes.
  • Fulfil administrative duties such as maintaining the class register, preparing resources, and managing classroom supplies and equipment.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in using educational technology including interactive whiteboards, learning management systems, and online teaching platforms.
  • Thorough knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks applicable to the specific grade level or subject area.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with learners, parents, and colleagues.
  • A minimum of two to three years of teaching experience in the relevant phase or subject area within a similar school environment.
  • A recognised teaching qualification such as a Bachelor of Education degree or Postgraduate Certificate in Education from an accredited institution.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also taking initiative and working independently when required.
  • Registration with the South African Council for Educators and a valid SACE certificate in good standing.
