Job Description

Hands-on from day one, the English Teacher will engage in ongoing professional development activities, create and maintain a positive and disciplined classroom atmosphere conducive and provide regular and constructive feedback to learners on their performance for a training provider in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate regularly with parents through written reports, parent-teacher meetings, and informal updates to build strong home-school partnerships.
  • Create and maintain a positive and disciplined classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and respectful of all learners.
  • Assess learner progress through tests, assignments, projects, and oral presentations, maintaining accurate records of achievement.
  • Supervise learners during break times, extramural activities, and school outings, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities including workshops and self-study to stay current with teaching methodologies.
  • Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings, contributing to curriculum development and sharing best practices.
Requirements
  • A genuine passion for teaching and a commitment to the academic and personal development of every learner in your care.
  • A recognised teaching qualification such as a Bachelor of Education degree or Postgraduate Certificate in Education from an accredited institution.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also taking initiative and working independently when required.
  • A minimum of two to three years of teaching experience in the relevant phase or subject area within a similar school environment.
  • Excellent classroom management skills with ability to maintain discipline and create a respectful and productive learning environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks applicable to the specific grade level or subject area.
