Job Description

The purpose of this Shop Assistant role is to monitor sales performance and implement initiatives to meet or exceed daily and assist customers with product selection by providing knowledgeable advice.

This position is based in Cape Town, Western Cape. Integrity, teamwork, and a customer-first mindset are at the core of how the team works. Responsibilities
  • Receive, unpack, and price incoming stock deliveries, checking quantities against delivery notes and reporting discrepancies.
  • Handle customer returns and exchanges professionally, adhering to company policies while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, handling cash, card, and digital payments with speed and precision.
  • Assist customers with product selection by providing knowledgeable advice and recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Monitor sales performance and implement initiatives to meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets.
  • Merchandise stock on shelves and displays according to planograms and visual standards, ensuring shelves are fully faced and tidy.
Requirements
  • A Grade 12 certificate is the minimum requirement; a retail or business-related qualification is advantageous.
  • For management roles, proven experience in leading a retail team and driving sales to achieve targets.
  • Proficiency in operating point-of-sale systems and basic computer literacy for stock management and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage positively with customers and team members.
  • A professional and well-presented appearance reflecting the brand image of the retail establishment.
  • A genuine passion for customer service with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
  • A minimum of one to three years of retail experience with proven customer service skills in a store environment.
