The purpose of this HR Generalist role is to provide advice to line managers and employees on HR policies and maintain and update the HR information system and employee files.

The role is based on-site in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. This is a stable position with long-term prospects for committed candidates. Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update the HR information system and employee files, ensuring records are accurate and compliant with data protection.
  • Administer employee benefits including medical aid, pension funds, group life assurance, and wellness programmes.
  • Prepare and submit statutory reports including Employment Equity Reports, Skills Development Levy claims, and Workplace Skills Plans.
  • Provide advice to line managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation for fair application.
  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle including advertising, screening, interviews, reference checks, and employment offers.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • A diploma or degree in human resource management, industrial psychology, or a related field from a recognised institution.
  • Thorough knowledge of South African labour legislation including the LRA, BCEA, and Employment Equity Act.
  • Experience with payroll processing and payroll software such as Sage 300 People, VIP Payroll, or an equivalent system.
  • For recruitment roles, proven ability to source candidates using various methods and experience with applicant tracking systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly when processing payroll and maintaining employee records.
Qualifications
Certificate in Payroll Administration or Sage VIP Certification
