Job Description

Reporting to the relevant manager, the Logistics Coordinator will monitor and report and plan and coordinate transportation activities at a distribution operation in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Responsibilities
  • Manage vehicle fleet maintenance and servicing schedule, ensuring all vehicles are serviced on time and kept roadworthy.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in the warehouse management system by processing all stock movements and conducting cycle counts.
  • Ensure all logistics operations comply with health and safety regulations including safe operation of material handling equipment.
  • Prepare and process all import and export documentation including customs declarations, bills of entry, and shipping instructions.
  • Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs agents, and customers to coordinate smooth flow of goods across the supply chain.
  • Plan and coordinate transportation activities including route planning, load consolidation, carrier selection, and delivery scheduling.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs including on-time delivery rates, inventory accuracy, warehouse throughput, and transport costs.
Requirements
  • For warehouse supervisory roles, experience with material handling equipment including reach trucks and forklifts with valid licences.
  • A valid driver's licence is essential; own transport may be required for roles involving site visits or shift work.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with internal teams and external providers.
  • A diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain management, transport management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
  • Proficiency in using warehouse management systems, transport management systems, or ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
