Responsibilities
  • Conduct microbiological testing including total plate counts, pathogen detection, and sterility testing following standardised methods.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain complex analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-OES, and spectrophotometers.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice, and ISO 17025 accreditation standards.
  • Prepare and analyse samples using a range of laboratory techniques including wet chemistry, chromatography, and spectroscopy.
  • Investigate out-of-specification and out-of-trend results, performing root cause analysis and documenting findings thoroughly.
  • Write and review standard operating procedures, analytical reports, and technical documentation for the laboratory.
Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sample handling, testing, and documentation to ensure reliable results.
  • Thorough understanding of laboratory quality systems such as ISO 17025 and the principles of Good Laboratory Practice.
  • The ability to work methodically and prioritise tasks in a high-volume laboratory environment while maintaining quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document procedures and present findings clearly.
  • A minimum of one to three years of experience working in an analytical or testing laboratory environment.
  • A national diploma or bachelor's degree in chemistry, microbiology, food science, biomedical science, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical techniques and instruments relevant to the specific industry sector.
